This three-lobe leafed tree is found in northeast North America. It is very similar to the sugar maple, though shorter.The bark of the black maple is darker and more deeply-furrowed. The underside of the leaves is a little hairy and the edges of the black maple leaves curve down. Its buds, flowers, and fruit are identical to those of the sugar maple.
